Moss Carr Lodge is a small, recently established alpaca farm located a few miles North of Doncaster in South Yorkshire.

Coming from a farming background and having been involved with horses my entire life, the outdoor life is a necessity. Having given up riding after a second serious accident in 2005 I needed to study my options for the future.

What possibilities were there to provide me with a fulfilling outdoor business into which I could devote my time and enthusiasm? I researched horticulture, free range hens and breeding horses which all proved fruitless. Disheartened, I flicked through the pages of ‘Country Smallholding’ magazine and there it was—‘The World of Alpacas’!

And so it came about that I now own and manage a flourishing, quality herd of alpacas which I run from my newly approved log cabin home. From starting out with just 6 pregnant females the herd has grown to 25 and life revolves around working on my micro farm. My aim is to breed QUALITY alpacas rather than quantity and to source the best genetics available to achieve a top class herd. By keeping numbers relatively small I hope to retain the individuality and success of my animals.
